Words Have Meaning; Names Have Power.

If you’ve been to one of our CoLab locations in the past two years, you’ve seen the renovation that’s been underway. If you’ve been to CoLab in the last few months, you’ve seen that we are in the last stages of it being completed! As we were getting our spaces ready for our members to fully enjoy, our focus shifted to the detail projects. One of those details was setting up the tablets that can be found outside of our conference rooms for members to more easily reserve the space. We began to ponder the names we wanted to call our conference rooms.

Between our two locations, we proudly offer five conference rooms. Colab|216 has three conference rooms: a large open conference room at the front of the building, a smaller, private conference room central to the building, and a large, private conference room at the back of the building. The remaining two are found at CoLab|404: a larger conference room downstairs, and a more quaint conference room upstairs. We could have named them for their location in the buildings, and in fact, did for a while. Conference rooms are places where decisions happen, project momentum begins, and ideas become tangible. We decided they deserved names that lived up to the possibilities they hold within.

The three conference rooms at CoLab|216 are named after the three historic districts of Opelika: the Northside, Geneva, and Downtown. These districts are the foundation that Opelika was built upon, and that has stood the test of time. The conference rooms at CoLab|404 are named after North and South Railroad Avenue, the true heart of this beloved community.

We wanted the spaces that our members meet in to have as much positive and productive energy as possible. Some might argue that “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” I would disagree. Words have meanings and names have power. May what you create in our spaces stand the test of time, as the areas and features of our little railroad town have.
